Workhorse to Add Delivery Drones by Christmas
While the demonstration wasn’t earth shattering, Workhorse did show their drones ability to lift off, fly to the mock house, gently drop off the package, and fly back without a hitch. The presentation wasn’t flashy, however these types of innovations are about to change the delivery game for good. Workhorse doesnt plan on getting rid of their vehicles, rather outfitting them with “horseflies”, looking to make package delivery more efficient, and cost effective. Its estimated that the drones will save around $40 per hour on the road, per driver. The horseflies have been outfitted with sensors (appealing to the FAA) that detect other objects in the air. If a drone senses an obstacle, it hovers in place and alerts the driver. The driver can then take manual control, to ensure a safe delivery.
