New Technology Detects Distracted Driving
Engineers at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada have developed a complex system of AI and cameras, that can detect when a driver is distracted. The cameras can sense when the driver is doing something with their hands that deviates from their normal driving tendencies. Using complex algorithms, the system can even take control of the wheel for you, or alert you via sounds in the vehicle. The AI was trained to detect specific actions, such as texting, talking, reaching behind the seat, as well as facial positioning. Previous versions have been able to detect driver posture, and determine if the driver is drowsy.
