Uber Announces New Service, Uber Freight
The transportation company, Uber, has been testing Uber Freight since September. The trials included Van and Refrigerated deliveries in the Texas Triangle ( Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio). Recently, they started a Youtube campaign rolling out this service, Nationwide. This service aims at independent operators, allowing for an easy 1 step signup, with payments in under 7 days. Uber believes the transition is “sensible”, allowing for fuller trucks to hit the road, saving customers money. Uber has encountered a myriad of setbacks in 2016 from lawsuits, to autonomous vehicular creation. A Federal judge in California just decided, that the engineer that left Google Autonomous program, Waymo, to create his own can not work while this lawsuit is going on. Google believes that the ex-employee is using company secrets to create technology under his own brand, Otto.
