Crashes Make Up 41% of Accidental Work Deaths
The National Safety Council has reported that in 2015, 41% of all work related fatalities in the transportation industry stem from a vehicular crash. The NSC also found, that 478,000 injuries occurred due to lack of sleep or fatigue. In 2015, more than 145,000 Americans died from preventable causes such as drug overdose, motor-vehicle crashes, choking, drowning, and falls. 2015 marked an all-time high in preventable deaths. The NSC believes, that good data and awareness can eliminate many preventable deaths in our lifetimes. Of all the preventable deaths, poison accounted for the most in 24 states and Washington, D.C. Poisons also include drug overdoses, which are increasing at an alarming rate.
