Younger Drivers, and Not Enough of Them
In today’s transportation, the United States is already faced with a shortage of about 50,000 drivers. On top of that, the median age of drivers in on the increase. Carriers have started using new tactics to attract younger drivers. While referrals remain the #1 tool, Social Media has been on the rise. Of carriers with over 500 employees, 60% of those use Social Media to attract drivers. Up nearly 13% in usage, it seems to be working. Nearly 40% of carriers now feature a mobile application, allowing for easy access to apply. Companies have moved toward visually appealing platforms like Instagram instead of Facebook to attract drivers.
