Chevy Cruze Rides Efficient As a Hybrid
The 2017 Chevy Cruze Diesel sedan provides 52 miles per gallon in highway driving when equipped with a manual transmission, making it the most fuel efficient non-electrified vehicle sold in the U.S., the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has determined. A new Ecotec 1.6-liter inline four cylinder turbo diesel engine powers the car with peak power ratings of 137 hp and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is sourced from General Motors’ global diesel factory in Turin, Italy. Chevrolet has begun shipping the first 2017 Cruze Diesel sedans to dealers. Chevrolet will offer the diesel engine option in the Cruze Hatch for the 2018 model year.
