EPA Maintains GHG Emission Standards

Gina McCarthy, Administrator of the EPA has announced that the EPA will maintain current GHG standards for vehicles from the model year 2020-2025. The EPA believes that companies should be able to meet and exceed these expectations given the technology already available. By 2025, the average fuel economy for vehicles should reach 36 miles per gallon, across the board. This means automakers would need to raise the standard 10 miles per gallon higher than they are right now. This announcement looks to make regulations affordable, and to ensure less visits to the pump, while also protecting our environment.
