EPA Accuses Chrysler of Fraud
The EPA announced their accusation of Fiat Chrysler using a secret software to hide the release of illegal excess emissions. 104,000 diesel vehicles violated the tests, according to The Environmental Agency. These vehicles are the Jeep Grand Cherokees and the Dodge Ram 1500 with 3-liter diesel engines from the 2014-2016 model year, sold in the US. This report comes after Volkswagens’ massive lawsuit with 600,000 vehicles, resulting in Billions of Dollars in fines and 6 indicted executives. These failed emissions tests violate the Clean Air Act. But, Fiat Chrysler believe that they are in compliance with the law, and will work to make sure they are. The devices help pass emissions tests, while then reduce the effectiveness of the controls during production .
