Tips For Maintaining Your Tire

Tire Pressure

In order to get the best out of your tires, make sure to keep them inflated at the designated amount. An over-inflated tire, will cause the ride to be harsh and makes the tire more prone to punctures from road debris.

Plan Monthly inspections

A quick “check up” every month, should be a part of every fleets maintenance routine. You should look at the tire, and feel for uneven wearing. Also, check the tire wall and other problem areas. A quick before you hit the road, can save you from a dangerous side of the road emergency.

Clean the Tires and Wheels

Snow, Salt, Ice and debris can deteriorate a wheel, if not properly cleaned off. In addition to deterioration, metal on the wheel can also corrode from the road salt and chemicals. To clean, use warm soapy water and wash inside and out. Be cautious of petroleum-based cleaning solvents, as they damage the rubber.

If your truck is not properly aligned, your tires will wear unevenly. Make sure to get an alignment frequently, to maximize the length of your tires. Poor vehicle handling is another sign that you need an alignment.
