FMCSA Training Requirements

The FMCSA has proposed a rule requiring training for drivers trying to obtain get a CDL license. This comes after the 2012 Moving Ahead For Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21).   Drivers obtaining a “Class A” CDL License, will train behind-the-wheel for 30 hours, under an approved training program. Additionally, A Class drivers would need to drive for 10 hours or more on a practice driving range. ATA President and CEO Bill Graves believes that this would be a good requirement for the industry.
